Ugandan People's Defense Force soldiers, assisted by U.S. military and civilian personnel, meet with the Nkumba Quran Primary school headmistress Hadija Nantume and members of the school's management committee in Nkumba, Uganda, May 20. The UPDF performed a school assessment, annotating the needs of the school as they were presented by the school leadership. The assessments were later shared with the platoon and decisions about how to aid the school were discussed. The assessment was part of the capstone exercise concluding two weeks of focused Civil Affairs training at the Kasenyi Training Facility in Entebbe, Uganda. The two-week civil affairs focus is part of a 16-week training program created by Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. The program is designed to develop Ugandan soldiers in full spectrum operations with a concentration on counter-terrorism and peace support operations.
