Sgt 1st Class Sergio Cortez, a combat medic and Lieutenant in the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, immobilizes his patient's broken arm while practicing the skills he learned during the Combat Lifesaver Course. Cortez is a member of the Army Reserve's 7222nd Medical Support Unit, located in Tampa, and participated in the unit's recent mass casualty exercise during weekend training. 1st Lt. Pamela Anderson, an Army Reserve nurse and specialty nurse at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, looks on to evaluate the sergeant's work.
