Bridging the gap of over 50 years, from one Gridley crewmember to another...retired Chief Storekeeper Gene Hanson shares plank owner mementos from his time on USS Gridley (DLG 21) in 1963-64 with current USS Gridley (DDG 101) Command Master Chief Kassel K. Ndiaye. Hanson recently received a contingent of Navy chiefs off the Gridley in a visit arranged by Chief Navy Diver Stephen Vanzant to commemorate his naval career of 22 years that spanned World War Two, the Korean War and Vietnam War, and pass on keepsakes from that time to keep the Gridley legacy alive (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, NHB Public Affairs).
