Soldiers from the Maine Army National Guard, Company B, 3rd Battalion 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain) discuss belaying procedures before scaling a rock face at Eagles Bluff in Clifton October 1. These infantrymen trained many facets of their mountaineering skill set by climbing, repelling, belaying, tying knots and practicing medical evacuations. Soldiers from the 172nd climb frequently to improve their abilities to effectively perform in mountainous areas.
