U.S. Army Spc. Kayla Faber, native of Fredrick, Colo., Paratrooper assigned to 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, helps U.S. Army 1st Lt. Tyler Rauenzahn, also assigned to the unit, put on his parachute in preparation for a jump from UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopters at an airfield in Lielvarde, Latvia in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, October 1, 2016. The 173rd Airborne Brigade, based in Vicenza, Italy, is the Army Contingency Response Force in Europe, and is capable of projecting forces to conduct a full range of military operations across the United States European, Central and Africa Command areas of responsibility within 18 hours. The U.S. and partner nations conducted land, sea and air exercises and maintained a rotational presence in order to reinforce NATO security commitments in Europe.
