Marines with Engineer Detachment, Combat Logistics Group 26, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, lay a chain of C4 along a fence during a demolitions range at Realistic Urban Training aboard Fort A.P. Hill, Va., June 9, 2010. Each explosive device was shaped for different purposes. In this case, the charge would split the fence, allowing Marines to travel through without destroying the entire fence. This was just one of many courses conducted during the 18-day Realistic Urban Training Exercises the MEU will participate in as part of its pre-deployment training. The urban environment is among the most challenging tactical environments MEU Marines may face during their scheduled deployment later this fall.
