SCHRIVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.— 1st Lieutenant Derek Materkoski, 1st Space Operations Squadron, pushes himself in the last few seconds of the flexed arm hang, the second event for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge test at the Iron Horse Gym, Fort Carson, Colorado, Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016. After completeing this event participants conducted the thousand meter run. The next two days consisted of pistol marksmanship, an up to 12 kilometer foot march and a 100 meter swim in uniform while wearing a physical training uniform underneath, where after completion you must successfully remove the outer uniform without touching the sides of the pool to pass.
