Seaman Jacob Pruett reaches into the cylinder of a marine diesel engine to guide the connecting rod and piston down gently. Pruett works in the Diesel Shop at Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC). Enginemen operate, maintain and repair internal combustion engines, main propulsion machinery, refrigeration, air conditioning, gas trubine engines and other auxiliary equipment onboard Navy ships.
