A Vessel of Opportunity, which is a ship that is privately owned but contracted out by oil giant British Petroleum, is directed to possible sites of encroaching oil off the coast of Mississippi to investigate sightings made by air. UH-72 Lakota helicopters are being used lately for reconnaisance missions to spot oil and the vessels will use a skimming teqhnique.
