U.S. Marines with Joint Task Force Matthew and members of the Brazilian military help stage generators and water purification systems for the locals of Jeremie, Haiti affected by Hurricane Matthew, October 15, 2016. After 8 days of supply drop operations; JTF Matthew has delivered over 217 metric tons of supplies utilizing CH-53E Super Stallion and CH-47 Chinook helicopters. JTF Matthew was a U.S. Southern Command lead humanitarian assistance, disaster relief effort in Haiti following Hurricane Matthew. Matthew was a category 4 hurricane that formed in the Western Atlantic Ocean and affected Haiti, eastern Cuba, and the Bahamas before moving up the southeast coast of the United States.
