161018-N-VN372-004 HOUSTON - (Oct. 18, 2016) A student from Sam Rayburn High School tries on a bomb suit with help from two Sailors visiting from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 11 who were setup outside Navy Recruiting Command’s newest Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) asset, the “Nimitz,” during "Navy Day" at Sam Rayburn, Oct. 18. The high school visit was part of the week long 2016 Navy Week and was the first school visit by the Navy’s newest STEM attraction, designed to illustrate the Navy’s use of cutting edge technology for training and operations. Navy Weeks focus a variety of assets, equipment and personnel on a single city for 7 day series of engagements designed to bring America’s Navy closer to the people it protects, in communities that do not have a large naval presence.
