ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 18, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Katelyn Gartland, from Escanaba, Mich., replaces the silicon controller rectifier on an F/A-18 generator control unit in the avionics shop of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike). Gartland serves aboard Ike as an aviation electronics technician and helps inspect, troubleshoot and repair aircraft avionics. Ike and its Carrier Strike Group are deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
