Michael Desmond, commanding officer of littoral combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 7), accepts a historically accurate drawing of the first USS Detroit (1813), the first U.S. Naval vessel to bear the city’s name, during a welcoming ceremony in Windsor, Ontario. Windsor is Detroit’s first port visit and this marks the first time that a U.S. warship has made an inaugural visit to a Canadian port. Detroit was commissioned October 22, 2016.
