New recruits from Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, enter the contraband room during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Oct. 24. At this time, recruits are required to discard any contraband they may have brought with them. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate Jan. 20.
