161028-N-WC566-040 JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM--(OCT. 28, 2016) Sailors and civilian volunteers participate in reef cleanup hosted by Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Hawaii Natural Resources Department to restore Ahua Reef wetlands at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The restoration is part of an ongoing effort to clear out invasive plants that are taking over the historic reef. The Ahua Reef beach shoreline along the coast of Oahu provides a refuge for rare wetland plants and animals. (U.S. Navy photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Gabrielle Joyner/Released)
