A Kubasaki High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadet models the uniform worn by the Marines who fought in the Mexican War during a Marine Corps birthday uniform pageant Nov. 8 aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. Marines, with the help of the United States Army, captured the castle of Chapultapec and culminated their victory with the raising of a bullet-torn flag. This victory was the inspiration for the first line in the Marines’ Hymn, “From the halls of Montezuma…”(U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Daniel Jean-Paul / Released)
