STS-115, Space Shuttle Atlantis ascends into orbit Saturday, September 9, leaving a column of smoke and fire in its wake. A lightning strike to the launch tower, tropical storm Ernesto, fuel cell trouble and faulty reading from an engine-cut-off sensor delayed the launch of STS-115.
