CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea – Senior military leaders from the Republic of Korea Army observe a demonstration of the capabilities of the U.S. Army’s multiple integrated laser engagement system, or MILES, by Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, during a visit to Camp Humphreys Nov. 8. MILES is a training system that uses lasers and blank rounds to simulate actual battle. In addition to the MILES, observers also received a demonstration of the capabilities of the initial-homestation instrumentation training system, or I-HITS, which, when integrated with MILES, simulates artillery, air to ground fire, tank fire and other direct and indirect fire sources.
