Vice Adm. D.C. Curtis, commander of Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, presents Lt. Sophia Haberman with a plaque for her work with the Surface Warfare Officer Introduction Course during a ceremony at Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet Headquarters. The four-week course, focused on improving war-fighting readiness through interactive lectures, simulator training, and exposure to senior leadership, is designed to empower new surface warfare officers by providing them with the basic knowledge and skills to make an immediate impact on the ships to which they are assigned.
