ARABIAN GULF (Nov. 24, 2016) Seaman Sebastian Coats, from Indianapolis, right, and Nathaniel Wilson, from Denver, prepare a carving station before Thanksgiving dinner on the forward mess decks of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike). Ike’s culinary specialists prepared more than 4,950 lbs. of turkey, 1,050 lbs. of ham, 1,200 lbs. of beef tenderloin, 648 lbs. of shrimp cocktail, 7,000 portions of mashed potatoes, 400 pies and 200 cheesecakes for the ship’s Thanksgiving meal. Ike and it’s carrier strike group are deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
