Participants in the Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure take a well-deserved rest with a volunteer from the California National Guard’s Sunburst Youth ChalleNGe Academy following the 5-kilometer event this fall. More than 90 graduates of previous Sunburst classes volunteered to hand out water and bananas to participants and perform other volunteer functions for the event. Volunteering at the race was just one of many ways Sunburst cadets’ and graduates provide service to their community, which was highlighted this year through a nationwide ChalleNGe Program social media campaign on Oct. 23 and tagged #ChalleNGe4ChaNGe.
