The ingredients for chicken-a-la-king tube food are blended in an industrial mixer at Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center in Natick, Massachusetts, July 6, 2016. Tube food is produced in mass by food technologists at Natick and then shipped to U.S. Air Force U2S pilots who consume the food during their lengthy sorties. The pilots, who wear a full pressure suit in order to fly at altitudes exceeding 70,000 feet, attach the tube food to a nozzle on their helmets which allows them to suck the food from the tube while maintaining the pressure seal on their flight suits.
