Vitali Kholodov, Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival (MCWIS), with water survival section, Support Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, is being rescued as part of a drill at the combat training pool on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., Dec. 1, 2016. Becoming a MCWIS instructor is a key role in the Marine Corps due to Marines being an amphibious force and other opportunities such as teaching recruits and other Marine basic water survival techniques.
