U.S. FIFTH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Nov. 23, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Matthew Jenson, assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94), operates a sextant to calculate distance during a routine transit. Busby serves onboard Nitze as a quartermaster and is responsible for assisting the officer of the deck, making celestial observations and plotting courses. Nitze, deployed as part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, is supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
