Keystone Visits Joint Task Force Guantanamo

Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bonnie Skinner(right) and Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. William Thurber(left), two senior U.S. Marine Corps non-commissioned officers participating in the Keystone program, view the Camp IV recreation yard during a tour of Joint Task Force Guantanamo’s detention facilities, July 25, 2010. Keystone is a two-week course that takes command senior enlisted leaders serving or slated to serve in a flag or general officer-level joint or service headquarters on overseas field studies to learn about joint and combined doctrine, interoperability and key allied nation issues. JTF Guantanamo provides safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released by a court. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of Military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations. The JTF conducts planning for and, on order, responds to Caribbean mass migration operations.
