Col. Ricardo Martinez, the commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., spoke about the benefits that the MCAS Yuma microgrid, owned by Arizona Public Service, will have on MCAS Yuma and the community during the ribbon cutting ceremony at MCAS Yuma, Dec. 15, 2016. The microgrid project is a partnership between APS and MCAS Yuma that will provide enough backup power to cover 100 percent of current and projected base energy requirements, which far exceeds and may replace current backup capabilities.
