Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Herrick, equipment operator, a Seabee assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 removes a wing from the wreckage of a cargo plane that crash-landed. The Seabees removed the passengers from the plane and performed first aid until rescue personnel arrived. There were no injuries during the crash. NMCB-5 is deployed to Afghanistan executing general engineering, infrastructure construction and project management to support Operation Enduring Freedom.
