ST. INIGOES, Maryland (Nov. 4, 2016) - The NAS Patuxent River Color Guard parades the colors at the USS Tulip ceremony in St. Inigoes, Maryland Nov. 4. Naval Air Station Patuxent River held a memorial service for those killed in the explosion with their descendants in attendance. The monument, erected in 1940, stands as a memorial to the 47 Sailors killed on Nov. 11, 1864 when the Tulip suffered an explosion off St. Inigoes due to a faulty boiler.
