Burundi military personnel demonstrate skills learned during a first response medical course facilitated by the United Nations in Mogadishu, Somalia, Dec. 19, 2016. In support of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, the U. N. course curriculum was intended to standardize medical support techniques during peacekeeping operations and political missions in the field. Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa is a multinational effort to conduct theater security cooperation, combat violent extremism and enable freedom of movement within East Africa in order to defend U.S. interests and support aligned regional efforts.
