Lt. Gen. Michael Garrett, the commander of U.S. Army Central, began a two-day tour in Astana, Kazakhstan with a sit down meeting with Lt. Gen. Murat Maikeyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, at the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense. Garrett also visited the new Kazakhstan Military History Museum — focusing on the rich warrior tradition in the country from the Bronze Age to the 21st Century — and donated a replica of the sword Third Army Commander Gen. George Patton carried in World War II.
