On Sept 24, 2006, Staff Sgt. Eduardo Nagy, a team chief with Detachment 1, 4th Civil Affairs Group supporting 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, shakes the hand of an Iraqi homeowner after finalizing a lease payment. A personal security detachment escorted two disbursing Marines from Camp Taqaddum to a Jazirah schoolhouse where they paid the civilians approximately $60,000 for the Iraqi Army's use of their homes. A team of Marines acted as advisors while the Iraqi Army supervised all scheduled lease payments without incident. 1st Marine Logistics Group is deployed with I MEF (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi Reconstruction.
