Another F-35 Lightning II made history Tuesday, January 10, 2017, when the 200th operational jet rolled off the Fort Worth, Texas production line and arrived at Luke Air Force Base to join a fleet of 46 F-35As used to train international pilots. Aircraft AX-2 is the second jet built for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. Two more Japanese F-35As will head to Luke to join AX-1 and AX-2 at the training squadron, and the remainder of the 42 Japanese F-35 aircraft will be assembled at the Japan Final Assembly and Checkout Facility (FACO) in Nagoya, Japan. Currently, 380 F-35 pilots and 3,700 maintainers operate F-35 aircraft across 12 locations worldwide, already logging 75,000 flight hours ashore and on aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships.
