U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Austin Reese, 20th Security Forces Squadron entry controller, aims an artificial training weapon at a simulated attacker during his pepper spray training while Karl Johnson, 20th SFS trainer, motivates him to continue at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Jan. 18, 2017. During a use of force training day, Airmen reviewed less-lethal weapons, operational security and identification procedures, to include the new Real ID Act changes. Although some of the training was classroom-based, the Airmen also performed baton drills and situational use of force training. Team Shaw defenders who had not yet experienced pepper spray first-hand were required to complete an obstacle course while affected by the substance.
