Jeffrey Ward, commanding officer of amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), facilitates transgender training with chiefs and officers in the ship's wardroom. The training was conducted to provide command leadership guidance on transgender policy in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) instructions. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
