Marines with 2nd Marine Division set out on foot for the 2nd MarDiv 50 mile hike at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 1, 2017. The hike was a challenge open to officers and enlisted personnel and allowed the Marines to bond as a unit as they step together. The hike originated in 1908 with an executive order administered by then president Theodore Roosevelt and has since then only been attempted and completed twice since its inception.
