Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers Sgt. First Class Takashi Nakashima, front, and Sgt. Takahiki Iino, back, with the Western Army Infantry Regiment, transport a simulated casualty from a MV-22 Osprey to a Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) during a cherry picker training event as part of Exercise Iron Fist, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Feb. 9, 2017. Once the simulated casualties are loaded into the MTVR, they are categorized and transported to a Shock Trauma Platoon that is set up just minutes away from the landing site to be treated. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together and share techniques, tactics and procedures to improve their combined operational capabilities.
