Soldiers of Mortar Platoon, 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment launch 60mm mortars at fixed targets on a range at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center in central Indiana. The roughly 600-soldier unit, part of the Massachusetts National Guard are training for deployment to Afghanistan to provide security for rebuilding efforts there. The deployment is Massachusetts largest since World War II.
