A MARSOC Marine employs advanced communications equipment during small unit training aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 11, 2010. MARSOC puts experienced communications Marines through a rigorous training pipeline in order to create special operations forces communications specialists, or SOCS-Cs. SOCS Marines gain proficiency, experience and skills beyond their military occupational specialty requirements and apply them in the special operations environment. Following a successful tour in the special operations community, many return to the Operating Forces armed with experience and skills, ready to train and mentor junior Marines.
