U.S. Marine Sgt. Justin Middlemas, Greenville, Wyo., lays a yellow rose at the base of the centerpiece of the North Dakota Memorial to the Fallen in the Global War on Terrorism in Bismarck, N.D. The roses were presented at the beginning of a ceremony which recognized three service members for inclusion in the memorial. Middlemas represented Sgt. Michael E. Bitz, United States Marine Corps, who was killed in action on March 23, 2003, at Nasiriya, Iraq. The others recognized were Spc. Keenan A. Cooper and Pfc. Jonathan C. Yanney, United States Army. The ceremony was on Sept. 11 in Bismarck, N.D.
