Major General Shigeo Kaida, Japanese Ground Self Defense Force's Western Army Infantry Regiment, speaks to Col. Chandler Nelms, commanding officer of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, as well as U.S. Marine and JGSDF staff Feb. 20 aboard the USS Anchorage during Exercise Iron Fist 2017. The Marines and JGSDF soldiers will plan and execute amphibious operations together as part of the exercise.
