Marvin Russell, of Loganville, Ga., recounts his experiences with Sfc. Edwin Gonzalez as they rest in front of the World War II Memorial's Freedom Wall in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Russell served as a flight engineer and gunner on a B-17 bomber in the Army AIr Corps during WWII, and was shot down over Europe and spent 13 months as a prisoner of war before returning home. More than 60 other veterans accompanied Russell at the memorial after arriving on an Honor Flight from Fayetteville, Ga.
