Geelong, AUSTRALIA – A U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor from the 90th Fighter Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, demonstrates the aircraft’s maneuverability and capability during the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition (AVALON) Feb. 28. The F-22 Raptor deployment under the Enhanced Air Cooperation and it’s participation in the AVALON 2017 represents a key milestone for U.S. and Australian Airmen as we together build a robust allied 5th generation fighter presence in the Indo-Asia-Pacific. With Australia starting to fly the F-35 Lightning II, 5th and 4th generation aircraft subject matter expert exchanges and aerial exercises are absolutely vital to ensuring interoperability between our Airmen.
