Marine and British leadership pause for a moment of silence during a dedication ceremony for Capt. Trevor J. Yurista at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, Sept. 13. Following opening remarks, Maj. Gen. Richard P. Mills, Regional Command Southwest commander, gave a speech in honor of the fallen Marine. Yurista served two tours in Iraq before volunteering for Afghanistan three months later in August 2008. On October 27 while participating in operations in Now Zad, his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device during heavy enemy fire and was mortally wounded. Already selected for promotion, Capt. Yurista was posthumously promoted and awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a combat distinguishing device. (Official Royal Air Force Photo by: Sgt. Martin Downs)
