170303-N-XK809-178 PHILIPPINE SEA (March 3, 2017) CH-53E Super Stallions, assigned to the “Flying Tigers” of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 262, embark amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). The Super Stallion is used primarily for airborne mine countermeasures, with secondary missions of vertical shipboard delivery and assault support. Bonhomme Richard is on a routine patrol, operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to serve as a forward-capability for any type of contingency.
