Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas Helms, culinary specialist, from Long Island, N.Y., serves chili to Rear Adm. Mark Guadagnini, commander of Carrier Strike Group 9, Capt. Carol Hottenrott, commander of Destroyer Squadron 9, Capt. John Eden, commander of Carrier Air Wing 2, Capt. Bill Byrne, commanding officer of the guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George, and Capt. Timothy Kuehhas, executive officer of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Culinary Specialists from all units in the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group were invited to participate in the chili cook-off. Abraham Lincoln is underway on a scheduled deployment to the U.S. 7th and 5th Fleet areas of responsibility.
