170313-D-UJ980-029 SAN DIEGO (March 13, 2017) Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) personnel discuss the command’s research capabilities with Rear Adm. Ann Burkhardt, director, 21st Century Sailor Office, as she tours the Warfighter Performance Laboratory. NHRC scientists conduct research to improve the physical and mental readiness of U.S. service members, work that aligns with many 21st Century Sailor initiatives. Since 1980, NHRC has been studying physical readiness testing and are currently evaluating body composition data for current Navy personnel. Additionally, NHRC conducts research to address psychological health concerns including sleep health, transition from military to civilian life, and substance misuse.
