In 1955, Felker Army Airfield at Fort Eustis, Va., was home of the revolutionary wheel design and the first military heliport in the world. In the last 62 years, the airfield has been upgraded several times and now provides support for U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy helicopter training missions, completing 16 hours of flying operations daily.
