Personnel Specialist 2nd Class Aston Asamoah, from Richmond, California, and Yeoman 3rd Class Rod Simmons (AW), from Dyersburg, Tennessee, apply a soft-patch to a pipe during pipe-patching training in the hangar bay of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Soft patches can be used to patch pipes containing pressures up to 150 pounds per square inch. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
