The evacuation operation took place as part of a certification exercise conducted by Expeditionary Operations Training Group. CERTEX involves non-combatant evacuation operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief training, as part of a readiness evaluation for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to join the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet.
