U.S. 7TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (March 22, 2017) Members of the visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) team assigned to Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) climb down a pilot ladder to a rigid hull inflatable boat to prepare to board Republic of Korea Navy ship Kwanggaeto (DD 971) during maritime interdiction operations bilateral training between the Republic of Korea and the United States. Wayne E. Meyer is on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment with the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend U.S. 3rd Fleet command and control functions into the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
